On this Friday September 30th, Osprey Central we will be honouring The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We will be honouring children who never returned home, and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities.
Staff and students will participate in grade appropriate activities to understand the meaning and show our support for The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We encourage our school community to wear orange shirts on this day if possible as "September 30 is recognized as Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day inspired by the story of Indian Residential School Survivor Phyllis Webstad. To honour the children who survived Indian Residential Schools and remember those who did not, many Canadians across the country wear an orange shirt.”
